I am a new user of Fusion 360 and have successfully designed several projects but am now having several problems.

  1. I am trying to design a box  can create the front panel and when creating the side panel is when the first problem shows up.   No matter which side I select to sketch on the new sketch will move the origin point.
  2. Sometimes when I tap the “R” key to get a rectangle tool I get a square at where I start but cannot draw out a rectangle.  The same thing happens if I try to use the line tool.

I think we need a little more information.   Preferably:  The model you are working on now, and a screencast or other video of what you are trying to do.  It's impossible to tell what's going on from just your description.

I do not understand why the second sketch moves to the left side when I create it on the right.

Sorry, @Anonymous - no video or model file (F3D) is attached to either of your posts.  Note that you cannot attach files to a post if your respond via email.  You have to go onto the forum site directly and post from there.

You video did not make it.  I suggest you just attach you Fusion 360 model containing the sketch.  If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

Thanks for offer to help attached is a sample file with two sketches  showing what I am getting lately.  I create the front panel turn it so I can sketch n the right side.  I create the second sketch when I go back to an isometric view the sketch has moved to align wit the origin point.  If I create a center point rectangle he same thing happens with sketches moving to the origin point.  What I do not understand is I have created other drawings and did not have this problem.

Thanks

Jim

I have looked at your model and review what you wrote but I cannot understand your issue.  If you hit the Home icon the model will go back to the home position which may not be the component orientation but that is normal.  What I did was walk through creating two quick components.  What I need you to do is tell me, citing the Screencast timeline stamp, where the issue you are having occurs.  If you do not see it, you create a Screencast and tell me the timeline stamp where you get the issue.

I watched your screencast I am trying to create a part on the right side of the front panel.  I hope this video comes through OK.  The sample file is from the video it seems to me the second (Side) panel should be on the right or forward edge of the front panel.

Hi,

Your sketch is on ZY (left) and not on the right side of the body.
