Simulation components lose visibility permanently when toggled with "V"

Hello!

I have a problem with a model simulation.

Simulation components lose visibility permanently when toggled with "V".

Toggling visibility from browser works normally, but toggling visibility by pressing "V" makes visibility gone forever. Restarting Fusion, going to other workspaces or simplify and coming back etc. doesn't help.

In Simplify all components are showing. In design workspace they are all showing too. When creating a new simulation model, all components are visible, but this same issue can be repeated again.

As a side note: The model has been mostly created using the API. For some reason the "Timber" components created from API have always been transparent no matter what i have tried from API or UI. Actually the components are not transparent, but it seems that the faces are inside out. You can see the bodies opposite faces, but not through the body. This might have something to do with this issue. This would be nice to get solved too.

Best Regards,

Ilkka

Hello @Ilkka_T ,

Sorry for the trouble you are facing, I tried to reproduce the issue at my end but was not able to repeat what you are facing. I can go to the bodies in simulation browser and can toggle the visibility on without any issues. Can you please attach a quick video of the issue you are facing?

Also I would request you to attach the model here such that I can take a look at the transparency of timber material, mostly seems a bug to me.

Hello Mohammed,

I actually tried to attach a screencast into the message, but looks like I only previewed it and didn't insert.

Looks like i get, "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.", when I paste the screencast URL and insert or insert from "my screencasts".

Here's the screencast URL: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/d111a2f0-53d9-4c9d-a780-a6aa165774b3

Hello @Ilkka_T ,

This seems a part specific issue to me.

Can you please attach the model here, such that I will go ahead and add as a bug.

Thanks!

Here's the model at an earlier stage just after only creating the components through API.

Same disappearing of components can be seen here when:

  1. Create a static stress study
  2. Select a component and press V
  3. Component disappears without the browser "eye icon" changing

This same seems to happen to manually created component in this design also. So i assume something has gone wrong for this whole design in the API.

The "inside out" faces of components can also be seen more clearly here without the timber end cuts being done.

Hello @Ilkka_T ,

I think you are trying to select bodies and toggling with V. As a reason the bodies getting visibility off and not the components.

You can go to Select-->Selection Priority-->Select component Priority to select components in assembly.
This way which ever component you click and Toggle V, only those will be disappeared and also it shows in the browser as well. Attached an image for reference.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!

Hello Mohammed!

No this is not the case.  I am very well aware of selection filters. It can be seen from the screencast that i am not selecting the body. I do show selecting the body and changing that's visibility too in the screencast. But making the body or bodies group invisible will also make that same body invisible in all the other same components.

Toggling the component in the design's static study with V seems to toggle some hidden component level visibilty setting (looks like a bug), as it doesn't change the browser visibilty toggle for the component. You can see this behaviour in the screencast and the design that i posted if you try ( I believe. As I tried doing the same in another design and it worked as expected).

There is also the "inverted faces" of the components issue, that's mostly just annoying, unless it is the root cause of this problem.

P.S. I tried to upload a new screencast, but this time the uploading failed into upload error. Retrying the failed uploads doesn't seem to do a thing...

Hi Ilkka_T / Mohammed,

My co-worker and I are just now experiencing the same problem.  Using the 'eye' icon in the browser allows visibility toggling, but using the hotkey 'V' just turns it off and the browser doesn't recognize it as having visibility off.  I'm wondering if you ever found a resolution to this issue?

I am on version 2.0.10806 and my co-worker is on 2.0.10813.

Sequential images below show the following:

  1. Base model with all bodies visible.  Highlighting body (Body9) that will be turned off.
  2. Body9 turned off using the eye icon (still selected).
  3. Body9 off, deselected.  Browser recognizes it is turned off.
  4. Body9 turned back on.
  5. Body9 reselected, ready to type hotkey 'V'.
  6. Body9 turned off using 'V', but browser shows Body9 as being visible.
  7. Body9 selected in the browser will highlght the part, but won't allow it to be turned on with 'V' or by clicking on eye icon.

Thanks,

I appreciate the response Ilkka.  We'll have to reserve 'V" for the Design workspace for the time being.
