Show dimensions from model in a drawing

New to Fusion 360. Is there a plan or timeline to enable the capability to bring the dimensions form the model into a drawing to save on recreating them? I am used to modeling with all the dimensioning used during the modeling process to be shown in the drawing. IE show Dim in Pro-E or show model items in Solidworks.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! It looks like you would like to automatically show model and sketch dimensions in a drawing created with Fusion 360. While our drawings team is working on this feature, it is a longer term project and I cannot yet give a date for when this functionality will be released. For now, you will need to recreate each dimension from the drawing views.

You can keep an eye on what our drawings team is working on at their mural page - hopefully this will help give you an idea of our future plans for 2D Drawings in Fusion 360.

Please let me know if you have any questions - I am happy to help!

Thank you for your information. For me the lack of this feature is a barrier to entry using Fusion 360. I will have to wait for it.

Any update on when this feature will be available?

As much as I love Fusion, with all the good and bad as everything in life, making drawings is the ONE thing for me the suck really bad (like for real, sooo bad.....)

Kinda disappointing to learn from this thread that 5 YEARS(!!) later something this basic (for me at least) is nowhere to be found. Don't get me started on not being able to replace a model on the drawing and having to recreate EVERYTHING on new drawings for different variations of the same thing

It's hard to believe that I can't show/include dimensions in a drawing made from a sketch.

I'm trying to create a drawing to take out to the shop to cut and weld some tubing into a frame. I need to show the dimensions (lengths & angles), to mark and cut the tubing.

I find it hard to believe that, to do that, I have to:

1. Edit the sketch

2. Show dimensions

3. Hide all of the dialogs

4. Maximize the drawing

5. Use my 'screen capture' to get an image

6. Print my screen image

There MUST be an easier way to create this drawing for my shop!

Hi,

When you activate sketches in the drawing, you can use the important points for dimensions in the drawing.
In addition, you can create user defined views in Design mode and use them to dimension the desired lengths in the drawing mode.

Can you 'step-by-step' this? I really need a way to create and print a drawing (3 view) that I can take out to my shop. Something that would be easy in AutoCAD.

Hi,

Please share the file and specify what dimensions are required.
