Sheet Metal - Sharp edges as bends

Hi there,
I've been using fusion to help me design a few pieces for a costume that I intend to make out of cardboard, and have mostly been using the surface tools to help design that.
My final output from this is going to be vector drawings (dxfs I assume) that I will print, cut, then glue together in shape.
I'd looked around at others with similar needs, and I saw a post at some point mention that it would be possible to do this by converting to Sheet Metal and then exporting as a flat pattern, which is something I had previously thought may be the solution. However, I can't get this to work. It seems, from my rough testing, that even once I convert my body to a sheet metal body, it doesn't recognise the edges as bends, which I'd need it to.
Most of the model is simple enough that I can do this manually, but this one component (attached) has a large number of small faces, which are going to connect in very strange ways.
Is anyone able to advise on how I'd go about something like this?
