Sheet Metal - Missing 'Swtich Rule' option ?

I have sheet metal part that I converted to sheet metal from a simple extruded solid part.

According to the product documentation there should be a 'switch rule' option available in the browser.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-C6715DB0-D183-4CA8-BF7F-C9B84927D5BB

However for me all I see is 'View Rule' when I hover the mouse over the rule button in the browser. If I click it it goes to the rules list window.

So how do I switch my sheet metal rule to stainless steel from steel ?

In your attached screen capture look at the end of the line just above the one you have highlighted, there is the control you are looking for.

You cannot switch rules that were created by the convert tool.

You can delete the create in the timeline and re-do, picking the correct rule or

edit the created rule to match your requirements.

Thanks for looking at it John.

However unless I am looking at the wrong button this is what is happening:

  • I put my mouse pointer over the button highlighted in yellow
  • It then puts the 'View Rule' note below it (under scored in red).
  • If I click on the button it brings up the window 'Sheet Metal Rules', which is not what I need.

My understanding from google is that it should be doing something like this which brings up a different window, the one I want, 'Switch Sheet Metal Rule' :

I think I am on the latest version of F360:

Fusion 360 2.0.17710 x86_64
Active Plan: Subscription
Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (22621.2506)

Thanks for explanation Carl. That seems to make sense although its little frustrating needing to back track in history to before the conversion and re-do the post creation steps.
Indeed going back in the timeline before the creation it then allows me to see the 'switch rules' option.
