Sheet Metal & Emboss Issue

Embossed versions of a logo in both SVG and DXF will not export correctly to the DXF file of the flattened sheet metal part. However, text created from a sketch and embossed on the flattened sheet metal work just fine. Does anyone have a solution or experience similar issues?

If you have a Fusion 360 Subscription, a SVG emboss will export just fine from a 2D Drawing of the flat pattern.  I did not try an DXF but I feel pretty confident it will work also.  You are correct, if you attempt to create a DXF for the flat pattern in the model, it will not work.  By the way, the SVG was added in the Unfolded state.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

My experience shows Fusion 360 Fails to work properly with SVGs. Attached are 3 photos, one with the SVG error in fusion 360. The next two are of the SVG working fine in Adobe AI and also Google Chrome.

The DXF Export of your flat pattern works fine from the 2D Drawing DXF Export but will not work from the DXF Export from the model.  I am not sure what you are trying to tell me with your last post concerning SVG in different applications?

I have found less than desirable solutions to my problem. The SVG errors were solved by fixing pathing issues, redrawing the logo in spots, and creating circles in Adobe AI. I highly recommend using the basic SVG option in Adobe AI to reduce the file size along with fixing errors. As for the DXF, not sure why you'd have a button for export as DXF on the menu and then completely for get to include things like embossing exporting.

Hi,

Only this much:
Besides AI, there are numerous applications that export SVG, each with its own peculiarities.
According to which criteria do you prefer one?

See >>this video<< for trick to get any desired geometry to dxf.

In the video I missed getting the island faces - but I think you can figure it out now.

The key was to Project any desired geometry into flat pattern sketch and then right click > Save As dxf.

Yes, the issue know which of the so many different DXF export options to use is the one that actually works.
