Shared public link not working

Shared public link not working

Shared public links from Fusion360 don't always work.

This is an intermittent problem. They occasionally work, then the next time someone attempts to open the link it fails with the "OOPS - this page is not found."

I've attempted over and over to un-share and re-share the link with the same results.

Interestingly enough, the link "usually" works on my desktop when I'm connected to the same network that I shared the link from.

However, anyone NOT connected to my network or if they are using iOS get the OOPs web page.

Most current link that fails outside my network, but works on my machine that created the link.

Hi @David_Ewen

I tried this on PC, Mac, and my android phone. Granted they're all on the same network but I'm able to access. Granted, they're all on the same network.

Sometimes these links take a while to generate the file in the web viewer. If you look under the "details" under the Oops image there will also be some more information on what went wrong.

Here's a good answer from the A360 team

Hi @karina.harper

Thanks for the reply.

This is way beyond waiting a couple minutes for the link to "populate"

This is regular occurrence of links even after they have been shared for days and weeks and even though they have previously worked. It's very strange, I can open the links on the computer I created them on, but if anyone outside my local network attempt to open them, they get the OOPs page from Autodesk. This current project has been shared successfully and unsuccessfully for more than 3 weeks. It just depends on how the Autodesk server is feeling that day as to whether it works or not. (I know that's not the real reason, but it seems like it is.)

The situation where I can open them on my computer and on iOS if on my local network, but not outside my local network is even way more strange to me, since these are supposed to be "cloud" stored files.

I have a separate support case in for this situation, because at this point, it is causing problems between me and my clients.

And here is the most recent attempt to share this link - however, I think it still does not work.

And a screenshot to prove that indeed this model is linked (supposedly)

Hi @karina.harper

Interesting that you are able to open this link.

Neither I nor my customer can.

Me on my iPhone using Verizon or my local network, customer via his computer and iPhone.

I can however open it using the same computer I used to share the link.

Ok - the A360 team may not get back to you on that thread since it is quite old.

What about other browsers? Are you only on Safari or are you trying others?

We tried it on several browsers and computers on our network, and we saw it didn't work on one iPhone connected to data.

Have you tried using the mobile app?

I'm only using Safari on both my computer and iPhone.

on both my iPhone and computer, link works if I use my A360 account, but not the public shared link.

My customer is using Windows, not sure what version, and an iPhone.

Neither work using the public shared link for him.

You mentioned that an Autodesk engineer may not respond.

Do you recommend doing another new post?

This might be a safari limitation. I would try using chrome - my guess here is that since this file is quite large, Safari is timing out on loading it. Let me know if you're able to see it in Chrome or Firefox.

From there I can log an internal ticket with the team so they can look at it for us.

I thought I'd chime in as I can confirm that I saw an intermittent problem loading down one of @David_Ewen's designs.

He posted two different threads to discuss separate issues and posted a link to the same design.

I responded to the first thread and was able to download the design.

A little later (less then an 2 hours) I saw his other thread and though this was a link to the same design I was presented with a message that this was a private link and I did not have authorization.

Both of these were on Safari.

I try to avoid running Google Chrome in parallel because it's been discussed on the forum that running chrome in parallel to Fusion 360 is responsible for some of the odd viewport and UI behavior of Fusion 360, particularly in full screen mode. Such as unresponsive view cube. So it's a bit of catch 22.

Did you try any other browsers? Did it work in anything other than safari?

No, I did not. As it turned out I already had the design so there was no need 😉

Hi,

I've been having the same issue this December.

I've trying to share the public link of my design, and I always got the same result, "Server encountered an unexpected error."

Might be a problem with the short link generator, because, I've opened my design on my browser (Chrome) through my A360 Account. I've copied the link, and I've created a bit.ly short link. This new bit.ly link does work perfectly.

I hope this reply can be helpful.
