I have put a light fixture into my design but when I render my design the light does not go through the holes and make a shadow, can someone help. Thank you!

Ray tracing in Fusion will have a hard time doing what you expect. Can you please post your model and I would be happy to look for the best result. It's not easy to explain without experimenting.

The translucent material on the inside of the lamp shade will scatter light  and that will reduce shadows. Can you render without that part and see what the results are ?

This is what I mean. See image below. The lamp is in a darkened environment, with a bulb material on a bulb under the shade. I poked some pretty big holes and those should let out some of the light in an organized manner. But the only organized light coming from the lamp is out the front of the shade.  I placed a box around three sides of the lamp to try to catch light beams/pools.

@TrippyLighting knows this stuff a million times better than I, so maybe there is another solution. But I see this as a limitation of ray tracing, it gets close, but only so much it can do in a case like this.

Looks OK to me. What did you expect?

I think I know what you expected, but we'll get there 😉

Can you share the model? (export as .f3d and attach to post)

You did not share your model so I cannot demonstrate it. If you want sharper, more pronounced shadows, you need a smaller hight intensity light source.
