Selecting Splines

When a spline Is created with the anchor points is there a way of selecting the line in-between any 2 anchorpoints so I can create a sweep. I still want the curvature data from the other points as removing other points changes the curve. The chain selection does not seem to apply to specific points along a line so I'm at a loss as what to do.

I hope I am interrupting your question correctly.  I consider the spline you are referring to is a Fit Point Spline.  You want to place a sweep between certain sections of the spline but not all of it.  In the Screencast I did this.  If you want to have two sweep segments, create other work planes and do the same process.

Thanks you for putting time into replying to my question! I probably didn't explain my question all that well because I'm trying to describe how I can quantify the 2 end location points along the spline curve when sweeping (not just the ratio between 1 and 0). I was wondering if I could potentially use references similar to the extrude to object when extruding (like when you can select a face for it to extrude exactly to the face clicked). So in your video I was wondering if I could have the end locations of the sweep to be on any 2 of the black vertices along the spline.
