Selecting joint origin in center of tube

I am seeing to center a cap on the end of a tube and am unable to "grab" the suggested joint origin point in the center of the tube. When I mouse over the edge of the tube, as shown in the picture, all points are available, however as I move toward the center (into the bore) all the potential points vanish. It appears that because the surface is not contiguous, I can never reach this mythical center point.

Hover over the same surface and hold down the Ctrl Key (Windows) Command Key (Mac) and you will be able to slide over to any snap point you desire.

Here is a short Screencast showing the process I mentioned.  This process works for placing a Joint origin as well on any hard to define surface.

Wow! That was an amazingly fast and gracious response. I really thought that I had tried that key ...
