Select only the outside of text for extrusion

Hello All,

I'm looking for a way to only select the outside of text to extrude to help speed up my workflow. At the moment this sketch comes in the screenshot from an imported dxf. You can see when you select all it includes the inner parts of the text that I don't want to extrude.

I'm hoping this is possible or someone can point me in the right direction.

TIA

S

If you are talking about the inside of the "A" being selected, then this could be that the profile is not complete for the inside of the "A" and the selection bleeds over.  If you attach your file, it will be easier to diagnose.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

The first question is:  is the "inside" recognized as a separate profile?  For example, in your "A", is the small triangle selectable as a separate profile at all?  There could be a "leak" in that triangle.  We'd need to see the design to be certain.

If that triangle is a separate profile, then there is no easy way to only select the "outer" profiles in a sketch of any type (text or otherwise).  You will have to do this manually.  For me, since the number of "inside" profiles is usually smaller, I will do a rectangle select of everything, and the CTRL-Select individual "inside" profiles.

Hey Jeff.
The inside triangle is a separate profile.
The way you describe is how I am doing it at the moment but I was looking to convert my workflow to a script but I'm not sure this is possible 😞 this why I'm asking to see if someone knows a way.
