Can I create a section view that only shows the cross section and does not show the items beyond?

Hi @Anonymous

I think I understand what you are asking for and have a simple example to show it. You can edit the section view and choose the 'visible edges' view style to remove any hidden lines behind the section. You can also choose to draw the section line in a way that it doesn't go through the entire model. You can see that in the example below.

Section_Views.png

In the image above..

Section like A cuts through the entire part. The Section view A-A has the view style 'visible and hidden edges'.

Section line B, only cuts through the diameter of the shaft of the pin, and also has the view style 'visible edges'.

You can see how these two views are different from each other.

I hope this helps,

I can't read the text in red on the image, as the image came through as low resolution. Do you mind zooming into it, or typing out what it says?

 Hi Timothy,

What you are describing is a "Slice" section view.  This is currently not possible, we create full sections only.  We do have enhancements planned (Slice, depth) but they're still on the roadmap.  I'll forward the request to the team, sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for letting me know.   Without a Slice view I can't really create the type of drawings I need.  Also, if the Detail View selection could be a rectangle instead of a circle, that would be better for creating elevation views of large assemblies.

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for the feedback.  I will forward these requests (Slice section, rectangular detaill view) to the team.  If you've been with us for a while you've seen we're still filling out the feature set in drawings, both of these would be very good additions.

Thanks,
Chris

Is this anywhere near reality yet?

I keep hitting roadblocks like this with the drawing sheet side of Fusion.

Hi @Urbanavitcha ,

Thanks for following up on this with us. This item is still on our bucket list, but in all transparency it has not been prioritized on our short list for the team to be able to start on for the next 6 months. To get a detailed view as to what the Drawings team is currently working on, please visit our Roadmap Mural HERE

Thanks for your patience, the team is working as quickly as they can to release features out to the community and we will get to this request in the future.

Best,

Timera

Hi @Anonymous , @Urbanavitcha - circling back to let you know that depth control for Section Views landed in yesterday's Fusion 360 release. Thank you for your patience! You can view an updated Drawings roadmap to see what else you can look forward to HERE.
