Section analysis in drawing workspace

Hi.

I had previously added section analysis (not section view) to the drawing workspace, see pic. However, I cannot repeat this action, it won't let me. Can you explain how I can do this please?

Hi @simonhoyland, thanks for posting.

As far as I know, there is no possibility to put a section analysis into a drawing in the way that you show on your screenshot. One workaround for this could be to create a screenshot of a section analysis and just insert it as a picture but I think it won't be possible to put it together with its isometric sketch just as you did. There is also a similar forum thread for that topic.

You can also create a section view with the shaded option enabled (which looks more or less like a section analysis) but you mentioned that you don't want to use it.

Hi Rafal,

Very strange isn't it?! In the design workspace I selected Drawing - from design, and sent the 'full assembly' to my Drawing. It displayed as a complete, isometric shaded diagram (NE perspective). When I un-hid Section Analysis in the Design bench and clicked the chain link to update the drawing, I got the section analysis in my drawing as per the screen shot I sent. This is exactly what I needed. However when I modified the design and tried the process again I could not get the section analysis view to transfer to the drawing workbench. I do note that various posters (including yourself) on the forums state that this is not possible - but clearly it is!

I would love to be able to repeat this action as it's something I would find very useful. The Section view does not provide quite the same level of detail I require and importing a screen shot will of course not update when I modify the drawing.

Any further investigation or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Simon

Hi @simonhoyland

To get something similar, I would create a shaded isometric projection from a section view.
