Search is broken

Tried to search for a file in a big project, and I keep getting errors. It has been several updates now and still broken so I figured I should submit a bug report. Here's the error message (with some of the data that could be sensitive blanked out). Happens any time I try to search.

Exception while fetching oAuth Info for [1253b9d98775.14f145d87f6]. Request [Type: [OAUTH], Provider: [AUTODESK]. Hi,

Sorry you are having trouble with this. I don't think search is truly broken, but it might be giving you some trouble that we could look into.

Does this happen for every project/design? Or just searching for a design in a certain project? Are you searching in "all data"?

Hopefully we can narrow down why this is happening to you.

Thanks,

Funny, I was searching a particular project, I didn't even know All Data was an option. I found the dropdown on the search window where you can choose another project to search. All of the projects were failing with the same error. When I selected All Data it magically started working, and now works for the projects too. So thanks, I guess.

Something is definitely broken that should be fixed. It is very likely related to authentication, perhaps something was cached improperly at the project level and it was refreshed when I searched All Data. Maybe you can pass that on to your engineers.

Thanks for the details.

It's not likely we will work on this unless two things happen:

1. Other customers complain about it - i.e. experience it.

2. We find a way to reproduce it.

To that end, if you can reproduce it, please let me know. I cannot. And if anyone else sees this post and experienced the same issue, please let us know. I'll ask product support if they are getting any support cases for this. That would also satisfy #1.

When I type in an item I want to search for in the search bar, "Exception while fetching oAuth Info for..." pops up. It keeps happening to me after the update. Please take a look into it.

What fixed it for me was to run a search at the "All Data" level.

This happens for me as well. After a fresh start of F360 it works, but after some time it stops working and throws that OAuth error. Restarting F360 fixes it again, but only temporarily.

Selecting "All data" in the dropdown also fixes it (which I learned just now from this thread), and as mentioned by others, after doing that it is possible to search in a specific area/folder again.

For me it is probably OK to just have to select "All data", but this is still a bug that really should be fixed. A google search reveals that quite a few people have or have had this issue.

I think this bug should be fixed too. However, I still have no idea how to reproduce it.

Since all of you seem to find it regularly, could one of you take a stab at how to reproduce the problem? I can keep trying, but I get 100% success every time I use search. I need to know how to break it.

I think any given person is only experiencing it once. I suspect it is related to an upgrade that was applied sometime. Most likely something is not initialized properly when you search within a project, only when you search All Data. Once you've done it once, it works fine. It may or may not be related to the fact that I had only ever searched within projects on previous releases, never used the All Data search before. Just my 2 cents as a software engineer with no knowledge of the actual implementation. Hope that helps.

For me it happens fairly consistently, but I don't do anything special to make it happen. One sequence could look like this:

1) Start F360

2) Do a search in a subfolder, which will work

3) Leave F360 running for some time, perhaps a few hours

4) Search again - error message pops up

Now, if I select "All data" in the dropdown, the search works, and I can also change back to the subfolder and searching still works. However, this is not a permanent solution, the problem will reappear at some point.

It is possible that this is linked to something specific in the user accounts of those that get the error, since it seems impossible to reproduce for the guys at Autodesk.

I would like to report it occurs the same way for me and my colleague.

Run fusion.. search is ok.

Leave it running on your PC, go have coffee, dinner, whatever, come back and we get this oAuth error.

Where is this dropdown?

I also have the problem most of the time.

Refreshing the data panel before searching used to work, but not anymore.

Search is broken for me as well but it does not appear to be the good old token related error which had the "All Data" workaround.

@Noah_Katz this is the dropdown

You are welcome. Btw, the search seems to have just started working for me,
i.e. it still fails but only the usual 30% of the time 🙂
