Search Error Bug Report

Since the last update I have been getting a search error more often than not. I have a lot of models to manage and I use the search feature all day. The error I am getting is very long and has some personal information in it but it basically says:

Exception while fetching oAuth

Intel Mac OS X 10.12

There is lots of other data I can provide like the Request Token, Time Stamp, Remote Addr, Request URL but I am not usure what is okay to share publicly.

Once the error is thrown the search bar shifts left about 15 characters and moves off the screen to where it is really hard to get it in a place where I can search again.

Hi @colinNJB25 ,

Do you mind sharing one of the screenshots with me via PM? Are you in a team hub when you are searching? Also - is this within a certain project, or any project in the hub?

Can you try the search, and when it fails, go to the Help menu, select Support and Diagnostics, collect your diagnostic log files and post the .zip file here.

Thanks,

Hi @colinNJB25,

Thanks for those, I can see the error. When you search via A360, do you get the same error? Also - is this a personal project, or was it shared it with you?

Also, I notice that you are using multiple emails and sharing data across them via inviting them to your datasets. Does the search issue happen on any account that you are using on the same data set or just one. Based on the error, it feels like access is denied for the file you are searching for.

Thanks,

I have a work account and a hobby account. I keep all file creation separate, I have shared the files with the two accounts in case there is an emergency and I need to update a work drawing from home. On this account I really only create drawings for sheet metal products. On my home account I only create NC code for making guitars. I do not use the collaboration feature at all.

In order to design the sheet metal parts I end up with large models and lots of components to make sure everything fits. I end up with lots of files to make it all work and often I need to search for a specific standoff or component from a list of similar components. So far I have not run into the problem at home but I only use it a couple of hours a month at home compared to 20+ hours a week at work.

I have never used the A360 browser at all but when I just tried to search "NPT" on both I was given an error in fusion but not on the A360 site. I hope all of the random information helps...

Thank you.

Also, after the error displays the search window moves out of the window. The only way to get it back is to click on the end of the search bar and start typing. It appends what you type onto your last search but then the search bar moves back onto the screen and you can edit it.

Hi @colinNJB25 ,

Thanks, do you mind inviting me to the project so that I can try the same? My email to invite is james.youmatz@autodesk.com. Which project exactly am I searching?

I shared you to the project and sent an email with instructions.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

As an update, I can search if I logout and log back in. Then after a few hours is errors again. This is new behaviour since the last update.

Hi @colinNJB25 ,

That is definitely strange. I'm racking my brain trying to see why that would have any effect. The only thing I can think of is from that screenshot you sent me, it looks like a token is expiring. Thats jargon for the authentication token used to search is running out and by signing out and back in the token is being refreshed. This has to be a backend issue, but I'm unsure where it lies. Can you try the two following things:

I'm curious after those two steps if the issue comes back. This will essentially wipe any stored login information/refresh the data panel.

Thanks

This seems like my issue posted here...

Refreshing the Data panel did work for me.

Closing and opening the Fusion software works. Normally I leave it open for weeks at a time.

Thank you for the help.

This bug is still driving me crazy. I have tried all the solutions here. The only one that works is to close Fusion and relaunch it every time the bug happens. This adds 1:30 to every search and then I have to find all my documents I had open and reopen them. Is there any work on solving this problem? My software updated today so I am running the latest release.

Exception while fetching oAuth Info for [b7a1f6b682e6.16b9018babd]. Request [Type: [OAUTH], Provider: [AUTODESK]. Cookies [[]] - OAuth - RequestToken: [84gl1kdS7I2+vlPOb8YsT2QdQqk=], UserAgent: [Neutron/2.0.6037 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12)], ....

I am getting this error every few hours. Saving all my open files, then reopening them after restarting Fusion takes forever. Is there even a plan to fix this bug? Couldn't Fusion just store the file names locally then it would take milliseconds to search and I would need to reboot all the time.

I lose about 30 minutes a day to this bug. I have had to restart Fusion 360 4 times today to search for files. Finally I went through all the above steps again with no luck. I followed the complete uninstall for Mac and reinstalled. And, I can't search again. I have a few hundred files and a usable search feature would be are really useful feature to have. I have more than 2.5 hr invested in this bug today alone.

I have been working on this with support a lot. They have been very responsive and I have seen them a few recordings of the problem. If you are having this problem the best work around so far is to switch teams and then switch back. You still have to close and reopen all documents but at least you don't have to reload the software.

You can reopen your project (Exit search in the data panel, click again to leave project, then find your project and open it up again) and that will resolve the search issue temporarily, in my experience usually for around ~2-3hrs. It's a lot quicker than logging out and logging in, or manually refreshing the data panel.
