ScreenCast on Mac M1: How to get support

Hello.

I know Screencast is not necessarily a feature of Fusion and it is probably across all AutoDesk products. I have searched for help with Screencast and don't find anywhere within their website that appear to be support for Screencast, so I am back with you Fusion experts.

Where do you suggest that I go in order to get help with running Screencast while doing Fusion, which is the only personal product of AutoDesk that I have.

Thanks a lot for any pointers.

Hi @Farzad_K,

Are you having to issue with running Screencast on Macs based on M1 chip? Can you elaborate on the specific issues you are running into?

If the issue is that Screencast crashes on startup, I would recommend you go back to the older version of Mac Screencast Recorder, that you can download from this site:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/simplecontent/content/download-autodesk-screencast...

The older version of the Recorder is on the bottom of the page.

Thanks,

Hello, Ram, and thank you for the message.

No, the problem isn't that it crashes; it does produce the video and completes its processing. But it does not upload, seemingly requiring me to "log-in" but it doesn't say log-in where. And the hyperlinks for log-in are inactive so I have nowhere to go from there. I have tried being logged into my AutoDesk account and it has not helped; I have tried to be logged into my persona Techsmith account and it has not helped. As a result, all that I can do is to produce the video and process it for upload, but I cannot upload it to help explain the particular issue I might be looking to communicate.

A darker side of this is associated with the fact that it is a techsmith product-incognito, and while I have several licenses with them I always have difficulty logging into my account, which is why I normally don't do that any way. To log in for the purposes of the Screencast, so that it might work, I have to always reset my Techsmith password for some reason, but that is an issue I will eventually have to take up with them.

For now, the issue is that a "log-in" is required, and the hyperlink associated with the log-in doesn't work, and I do not know where Fusion wants me to log-into.

Thanks

Farzad

Are you logged into any of the products? Like Fusion or Screencast? Have you tried logging out and log back in and see if that helps for the uploads to resume?

If logging out and logging back in doesn't help with uploads, here is what I would recommend:

- Got to the kebab menu (three vertical dots) and bring up the uploads dialog

- Delete all the screencasts that didn't upload from the list (hopefully, you can recreate those Screencast)

- Log out

- Quit the Screencast application

- Start the Screencast application

- Log back in

- And do a test upload and see if that helps.

Thanks, --Ram

Hi,

The problem with embedding screencasts can be found in numerous posts in the Screencast Forum, e.g. this one.

Thank you. I have gone in and deleted the three screencasts that were awaiting proper upload. In the kebob menu I seem to not be signed in. When I click on Sign In, nothing happens. This has been the fundamental issue: How do I sign into Screencast?

I finally deleted Screencast from my Mac and reinstalled it. The App got loaded with me signed-in already, and I was able to process and test a screencast successfully. I then logged out, holding my breath :), and signed back in, and all seems to be working now.

Hi @Farzad_K

I am glad, it all working for you now.

BTW, Autodesk Screencast and the Techsmith are different products from different companies and the signing-in process are different and are different accounts.

But if you have other Autodesk products and if you sign in to one, you will be automatically signed in to all other products. Hence you saw Screencast automatically signed you in. That might be because, you were signed in to Fusion.

Thanks,

Thanks for circling back. It is indeed odd, from such high class application like AutoDesk/Fusion to need another producer of graphics works for its ScreenCast, but, nevertheless, when I first installed ScreenCast it entangled me with TechSmith and I have never been happy with their log-in procedures. Yes, I am glad it finally worked out the way I had expected it: very seamlessly; it even started me out as being signed-in already because I had to be signed-in to download and install the application, so why waste a user's time and energy and have them sign into the App that was just installed.

Onward and forward.
