Scaling all meshes skips certain meshes

Hello All!

I am trying to scale a 3D model of a car to a 1:1 ratio... I select All Meshes and scale them up by the same scale factor. This causes a few meshes to resize, but many to not resize. I tried to go in manually and scale each individual mesh, but while every mesh is to the same scale; this causes them not to be lined up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will attach my file for reference...

Thanks!new_2018-Oct-28_01-52-52AM-000_CustomizedView29782555283.jpg

Hi @jasonmpack,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the community!

I also thank you for sharing the model!  As I took a look into this behavior on my end, I found quad mesh parts seemed to fail in Scale.  If I selected all and converted into triangulate meshes, the scaling works correctly.  I will discuss this with my colleagues and get back here once I have something to share!

Hopefully this helps!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi @jasonmpack,

Thank you for posting again!

I just heard back from my colleague, and I found this is expected behavior - Fusion mesh commands only work on triangle meshes.  So if you would like to edit (including scaling), it is necessary to convert to triangle meshes.

Also, you might like to convert to triangle meshes automatically on import.  In Preference (under the user name menu) - the Mesh tab, there is a below setting to do this.  If you would like to keep quad meshes and convert into TSplines, you could turn off this option.

Hopefully this helps!

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'm happy to help.

Thanks.

You are a legend! thanks so much!.

I do have another question though... I am trying to eliminate certain polygons along a line, and the mesh select tool is selecting multiple polygons. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to select only one polygon at a time. Any advice?

Okay... I spoke too soon. I got it figured out. I now have another issue though. My renders are turning out looking really weird. Any ideas?

so it looks like the issue is with triangulating the polygons... so either I have a realistic looking render or i can scale the model to real life Smiley Sad

Hi @jasonmpack,

Thank you for posting again!  I had an image from the attached model (I did not apply any materials at this time).

Did you add a change on the model?  If so, can you please post the design in this thread?1024x768, final, local render1024x768, final, local render

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'm happy to help!

Thanks.
