Hello,

I have two identical shapes on my workspace and I am trying to scale only one of them.  But when I select one and set its new scale it changes both, how do I correct this?

If you used Copy/Paste to create the second shape from the first, this will happen.  If you use Copy/Paste New the scaling will not affect the copied shape.

Edit: If you did not use Copy, then explain your process and/or attach your model.

Scaling one body or component out of two works fine for me. Can you attach an f3d file of your model?
