Scale changes origin

I imported a step file of a clock into Fusion 360.

 I checked some of the gear origins before scaling and the origin for each one was centered correctly.

When I scale all of the Components/Bodies, each of the individual body origins changed.

For example, the origin of one of the gears was set dead center. When I scaled it up the origin moved away from it.

I've attempted to scale in the following manner without success;

1. Selected the top-level origin, as well as, all components/bodies;

2. Selected a single component and its origin;

3. Selected a single body and its origin.

Is there a way to scale while keeping the origin at its relative position to the object?

Thank you.

You are probably missing the "Point" selection in the Scale dialog box.  This, selected point, will represent the point the scaling will occur around.  This allows you to retain or change the relative position of component(s) during scaling.  Screencast will show this.

Thank you for your response.

I followed your video and I still have the problem.

I have included several images showing the steps I followed.

The images show the location of one of the objects' origin before the scaling.

After scaling, you can see at the bottom of image 'scale03', its origin has changed.

John,

In preparing the file for export, I noticed the sketch component contained a single object that did not relate to anything.

I have no way of knowing how this occurred as this is an imported step file.

I deleted the offending component, then once again followed your video instructions.

Each local origin moved appropriately after scaling.  Thank you for your help.
