Saving Assembly into a Solid Body

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help. I have designed a new part for a customer. The assembly contains several sub assemblies. How do I save this assembly as a solid model in fusion 360 please? I need to save the file as a solid model so the customer can't see how the part is assembled before they place the order.

I have tried multiple ways including saving it as an STL etc and have tried looking online but I have yet to find a solution.

Thank you for any help!

STEP *.stp is a solid model format.

What file types can the customer open?

Have you actually created a solid model in Fusion 360?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I suspect that you really want some kind of a "shrink wrap" of your assembly.  I'm interpreting your question as "I want to convert an assembly into a single solid body.  Fusion does not have any sort of automatic shrink wrap capability, so anything you do will be fairly manual.  I'd recommend using Derive to create an associative external component, based on your assembly.  In the Derive, you can choose not to export all the unnecessary internal details (components).  Then, in the Derived version of the design, use Combine to join the remaining components into a single body.  Note, however, that you can only Combine components/bodies that completely overlap.
