Ok. Its been 3 days and I cannot figure it out for myself so I give up and am asking for some help. I have a CNC machine and I am making an effort at creating my own file to carve. I am making a music stand backboard. I have sketched the shape I want the backboard to be, now I would like the boarder to be carved like a rope. Please someone help, I am stumped and will be eternally indebted. Thank you!!!!!

My stab at it, you can edit the features, but the time it takes for small adjustments is up to you,

I found that overlapping the path would bring errors.  You may get tighter coils if you make one revolution, and pattern  it on a path.  Not sure.

I would be relying on CAM to not get the cutter right into the valleys to finish it off.

This is great! Thank you so much! Do you happen to know of any videos that might help me with designing CNC/CAM?
