Repeat a line every inch? The rectangular pattern doesn't work in this situation

Hi, 

I've drawn a line ( i want to make a grid) so i want the line to repeat every 1 inch X times.

But I can't use the rectangular pattern to do this because the line can't be selected to repeat.

How do I do this?

You want to Pattern it when it's in the Sketch environment

Hi,

Rectangular patterns are available in both sketch mode and solid mode.
1. Are you in the active sketch mode?
2.Have you selected the pattern under Sketch > Create > Pattern?
