[REP] Section view malfunction

Hi All,

We have found an "interesting" situation when creating a section view on a drawing.
The section length does not match the view and the section view. But if you modify

the section line the problem has gone.

Here is the drawing:  https://a360.co/3ETZonS

Here is the short video to describe the problem: https://somup.com/crll3B0GZc

Regards,

Joe

Hello @CAMXPRESS

Thank you for posting the issue. Indeed it's a strange issue. I am interested to know if there is a way to reproduce this problem or any peculiar steps taken that might have affected the drawings? That will help us fixing the bug better.

Meanwhile I will create a ticket to investigate the current situation.

Hello Rohit,

I have tried to contact the customer and ask them to give me any information to reproduce the problem, but he was not able to do that. So I am afraid that is the only information that we have. ( I know that makes a lot of work. Sorry about that.)

Joe

Hi @CAMXPRESS ,

The reason for difference between section view length with original view is that one or more horizontal segment/s of section line are not exactly horizontal. In this case, if those segments are not horizontal, the extra length gets added in the section view which is expected.

The one suggestion (especially while creating multi-line section line) would be turn off the snap by right click and selecting none option from the list.

Thanks,

Hello Pramod,

Might be you are right that one of the horizontal section lines is not truly horizontal.
If it is true, the problem:
- How to identify a section line segment that is horizontal/vertical?
- How to make a segment horizontal/vertical like at the sketch constraints?
Any help would be welcome.

Joe

Hi Joe,

As I said in the previous comment, once you specify the first point of section line; while selecting a sub-sequent points:

There is rubber band line (dotted line) as a reference line which helps to keep the section line straight. But sometimes if the snap points are ON, the point gets snapped to some point rather that on reference line. And this difference is so minute that it is difficult to see with eyes. Because of that, I was recommending to turn off snap points by right clicking and selecting none option so that wrong points does not get snapped.

I hope this will help.

Thanks,

Hello Pramod,

You are right about to using the dotted guidelines to make a section segment horizontal/vertical,
however, take care to do not to snap unwanted points. It is a good idea also to change the snap-settings
during the section line creation. But it would be more elegant and user-friendly if we have a dedicated
function for it to eliminate the mistakes.
Thank you for the help and the time to investigate this problem.
Regards,
Joe
