so far i have not been able to figure out why a rendering looks so bad in fusion i reset the screen resolution to as high as it will go which is the 1366x768 and that made no difference

when i opened fusion it said to update the video card so i went on line and it said there are no updates available the card is updated

Display Resolution 1366 x 768 (1920 x 1080 or greater at 100% scale strongly recommended)

before i spend money on a video card i need to know if that will resolve the issue

here is the STL file so is it the file or the video card?

Thanks for sharing the model to us. This is what I see in Fusion's Render workspace.

Can you please share the assembly model to us? And also  your graphics diagnosis info. Thanks!

here is the file of the assembly

i had a new graphic card installed in the computer thinking i did not have a card suitable for fusion the new card meets all fusion requirements and still i get this really bad looking rendering.

my thought it is some setting in fusion the file looks great in Blender

The error you were getting looks like the mesh normals were smoothed, which is a common error I see with CAD models I receive for work,  I was able to reproduce it in Blender by setting the object to Shade Smooth.

soa post from another forum it is narrowing down to a setting within fusion360 and not a hardware or file problem.  Because i am new at fusion360 just a few months into using the program i do not know my way around in order to change the setting

Blender, Sketchup, windows 3D view or any other program i see a clean clear rendering

and the red shape was drawn in Fusion the green drawing is a STL file and it renders as rounded soft edges

so it is the STL files that look all distorted anyone know why?

Hi @Anonymous , thanks for sharing the model. This is an issue in mesh, the normal of the faces get lost in this file after translated into Fusion, so the render result looks abnormal. I've reported it to the develop team as https://jira.autodesk.com/browse/FUS-71508

Yes, of course.

I've left a comment in the ticket. We will let you know once it get resolved.

But it won't be fixed in a short term as there are some dependencies on other components.

Sally

i was looking for a fast way to view STL files without having to convert them to a solid

once i convert the STL file i get a sharp rendering like this

where i am stuck is STL files that are to big to convert so i followed the videos and it shows this to turn on the mesh workspace so it shows up in the drop down under design

la6.JPG

but i get this window and not like the one in the video when i check the mesh workplace the mesh still does not show up in the drop down menu under design  Where is it?

fusion will open and display IGES files like this which i thought that is how it would display STL files

The mesh workspace is only existing in non design history environment, so you have to switch the default parametric modeling(capture design history) to direct modeling(do not capture design history) environment.

There are two ways to enter direct modeling:

  • Set design history to "Direct modeling " from preferences, and create a new design

  • If you are already in parametric modeling document, you can easily switch to directly modeling from context menu of browser.

Then you will find the mesh workspace.
