Red 'In Use' button not showing up anymore

Hi, the little red light/dot that shows in the project list window (Refer to screen cap) when two people are accessing the same model/drawing no longer shows up. We've had several drawings become corrupted and this may something to do with it.

Hi Matt,

Yes, the red icon showing files that are in use was temporarily disabled after the December update of Fusion360 because some changes we introduced had an adverse effect on the product.  We are working to enable it soon.

Can you elaborate on how disabling this feature is affecting you.  How are some of the drawing files corrupted?

Thanks
Gautham

Thank you for responding, Gautham.

Regarding your question, often our projects are collaborated on by two designers simultaneously. Without that little red 'in use' notification, and we're working remotely at difference locations, it can lead to changes not being applied or worse, perhaps a corrupted file.
It might just be a coincidence but we've had several drawings pop up with an error message when opening stating the drawing is corrupted and informing us that a roll back to an earlier iteration is required. Most of the time after hitting 'ok' the file opens regardless, seemingly without information missing but occasionally it requires a complete re-draw. Not ideal when you're already on tight turn around times.

Again, thank you for your assistance.

Appreciate the details about the problems you are having Matt.

The symptoms you are describing are not indicative of the lack of the collaboration feature (the red circle).  When we turned off this feature in December, we had an issue wherein some users were erroneously seeing more people collaborating on their files, when they were not.  To elaborate, next to the red circle we indicate who has the file open (could be one or more users).  During that incident even though a file was being worked on by a single user, Fusion was wrongly indicating that more people were working on that file.  We turned off the collaboration feature but could not clean up this erroneous collaboration data.  We are deploying a fix for that soon.  If you have such files, the one side effect you will see is that you will not be able to delete such files.  You should not see any other problems.

The problem you are seeing about the drawing files being corrupted must be due to some other issue.  I will forward this issue to the appropriate team.  Sorry that you are encountering this problem.

Regards

Gautham

Hi matt832QP,

If possible, if you could send us a corrupt drawing we may be able to determine the cause. I do not know how two people, editing the file at the same time, could cause this corruption.

Ideally if you could send us an F3Z, which includes both the design and drawing, it will help us triage. We will keep your data confidential. You can send it to my email address: stewart.sabadell@autodesk.com.

Hi Stew,

I'm unable to send the problematic file as we've since moved on but I'll be sure to email you the F3Z file when the error next occurs.

Thank you for your help.
