Recovery files disappeared after reboot

My computer lost internet connectivity and Fusion 360 froze. After a reboot, all of the (about 12) recovery files I was expecting were present. I opened all of them, but before I could save them with new names, Bill Gates decided that this would be the perfect time to "upgrade" my computer to Win 11. After that reboot, all of the recovery files I had open had disappeared, and I only have recovery files from months ago. Are these recovery files gone for good? If so, why? If not, how do I access them?

You can try to browse to the hard drive location mentioned in this article and see if you can find them.
