Recomputing bugs after overnight break

I was working on a complex Fusion model last night, saving regularly and closing afterwards. This morning I came to resume work on the model and it opens OK, but when I go to create a new component, it proceeds to do a full recalculation of all the lofts and splits in the model, and throws up a mass of failure errors. It wont let me add the new component. I opened and resaved an earlier version of the model and the same thing happens. The model was fine last night, but now it fails? I suspect some overnight process has left some bugs!

No response? I'm unable to do any work on the project this morning, not very productive!

Well, yes I read a statement,

no file, pic or other data anybody could investigate, or assess, or assist with.

Most likely you need an Autodesk responder, which limits the rest of us as well.

Well, what sort of file or pic to post? The thing just recalculates, spits out 28 errors (To many to screenshot) and resets. Also, the model is confidential, I'm not allowed to share images of it. I cant seem to find any means of contacting Autodesk product support...

My crystal ball only answers questions.

So far you haven’t even said, what the first error / warning says. (Other data).

Move the timeline marker to before the first error / warning.

Step to the first warning, and dependant on that information, if you can address it, or not, sometimes the downstream can update successfully.

my experience - share a public link, password protected with Autodesk responders by DM.

Might help....

We would need to see the model in n.f3d format and screenshots, perhaps even a screencast.

What your warning and error messages mean in general is that you have not followed recommended modeling practices and then also have never used the modify->compute all command for some basic checks.

I have not done anything I havent done on many hundreds of models before this. It has lots of lofted intersecting curves, but it all modelled correctly. Everything computed OK last night and the model is still visible and functional. something appears to have randomly disconnected whilst I was logged out overnight.

Oh well, only 3 whole days of modelling work lost... 😞  Random loss of a reference point and therefore everything associated with it, somewhere in the cycle. No help from anyone about how to fix it. expensive...

Well I hope someone from Autodesk contact you to resolve the issue. But at least you can open last night's version, so hopefully it's not 3 days but few hours lost work. Or does the issue appear in previous versions as well?

Also, by any chance do you have Derived bodies in your design? Because recently I had a problem with Derived components update. In one design I finally opted for not updating my Derived components to the latest version because it failed to bring the bodies and this caused lost references in downstream.

You are on a public forum where users help users. How do you propose we help you without having any chance at looking at the data?

When you work with models that you cannot share, then you need to have the skills and knowledge to troubleshoot your own problems. Otherwise you maneuver yourself into a very, very tight corner. @davebYYPCU has tagged two AD employees who might be able to help.
There is the in-product help ( Icon is in the lower right corner of the viewport I believe) where you can directly text chat with an AD support employee. Have you tried that ?

Yes, I have tried that, its not an option on my subscription apparently. (after filling in the help form...)  I have found the fault is effecting all of my previous models as well - here is an example of what is happening (on a 2 year old, previously functioning file) - https://autode.sk/3ODTvzp

something has obviously changed in the back end somewhere, and I'm operating in the dark. I appreciate the efforts of others, but when something that has functioned fine for many years, fails to do so overnight, I don't think its a user issue. Its a significant issue for me  as its effecting a huge amount of my work. you can understand I may feel a little frustrated. The item it first appeared on is commercially sensitive and I have not got permission to share it in a public domain, but now it has one of my other models, I will share that.

I'm located in New Zealand, so online chat may not be available in this time zone.

@bmcooke - if you can share the design with us, we can investigate.  The easiest is to export the design as a Fusion Archive, and get it to us by any means that is convenient.  If it is not overly large, you can email it to me at jeff.strater@autodesk.com.  Otherwise, any commercial file sharing service like DropBox or its equivalent would work.  If you are a commercial license holder, just "Share Public Link" from the data panel would work, and be easier, but I never assume that is the case.

@bmcooke

In addition to the file as Jeff mentioned, can you also share your applog files?

Cheers,

Karina
