Announcements
Autodesk Community will be read-only between April 26 and April 27 as we complete essential maintenance. We will remove this banner once completed. Thanks for your understanding

Really? - advertisements in F360 workspace. Is product revenue really that bad?

Paying customer here.

Just opened F360 to see an in-interface advertisement to a manufacturing plugin. Have you no shame?  Are you really going to try to generate revenue with in app adverts?

Is this turning into an iPhone app where you will make us watch adverts every few minutes to get to the next level or earn our daily rendering tokens?

“Hey beananimal, thanks for the feedback and being a paying customer - we appreciate your support. We have used banners from a number of different messages, from maintenance to schedules, to system compatibility, to new capabilities available to you. With that said, we're always improving the experience.

Our intent is definitely not to introduce in-app adverts. We are continuing to deliver new ways to improve the product development process for our customers. The Xometry app is a new tool meant to provide you a pathway to easily connect with a network of manufacturing providers who can help get your part made quickly at a competitive price.

I can see how opening Fusion 360 and seeing this banner on launch can be perceived as noise, and hearing this feedback from you can definitely help us improve the experience and how we present new information to our community. As part of this effort, we’ve recently introduced a new notification center (the bell icon in the top right corner) that will allow us better share with you what’s new in Fusion 360, what surfaces where, reserve banners for only critical announcements that impact every user, and as well as the ability to opt-in/out of future messages (this could be dependent on type of messaging).

Yeah to be honest, I was a little perturbed by the banner in main workspace window and thought the same thing regarding Apple/Google type marketing.

However, may I suggest that the plugin button on the top right also have a lower section in the pop-up window with approved vendors or services that may work in conjunction with the program features...

It seems like that might be a cool place to put it, and perhaps during that update (as well as first-time installs) it would draw attention to it (once) and then not appear unless required in the future.

Just a thought.
