"Save as STL" and "3D Print" crashes

For the last week or two (possibly just after an update?) the "Save as STL" and "Make -> 3D Print" commands no longer do anything useful and lock up the software.

After selecting a component (any component, of any design) to save as STL and clicking "OK", it doesn't ask for a save location and the Fusion user interface is unresponsive to future commands, though I can still scroll and pan around the viewport. In order to continue using the program I have to quit and restart it.

This is only happening on one of my computers (as luck would have it, my primary CAD machine) - my laptop does not have this bug happen despite it being set up in a near identical way, and working with the same data.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Fusion 360 software, and clearing the local cache in the Diagnostics menu, to no effect. I can't think of anything notable I've done to the system that would change anything; I do recall having a Fusion 360 update but can't say for sure if it only started happening once the update occurred.

Attached are the diagnostic logs for your help.

Thanks!

Peter

Hi @peter.tWDTFX,

Thank you for posting in the forum, and I am sorry to hear about the issue.

When you uninstalled the program, did you use the clean uninstall tool? If not, could you try that to see if that makes a difference?

Also, are you experiencing the issue with any of your designs or is it specific to one design?

Thanks for that tip. I did the uninstall through the Windows control panel, and not the cleaner you linked to.

I just tried using the linked cleaner software to uninstall, then reinstalled Fusion, and it's working fine now.

@Anonymous  Think your problem might be different. The problem in the first post sounds like the problem I had in this thread where the dialog doesn't open correctly. There is a fix in that thread, the problem is caused by the last used drive or directory not being available.

@Anonymous  Do you see the problem with all exports, even a simple cube? Can you make a screencast of what you see?

Thanks Mark

After pressing the 3d print button the program stop responding for some commands and does not show the 3d print bar until you switch tabs and then go back to the same tab. After a bit of time, The whole program freezes and then crashes

@Anonymous  Have you sent in the error reports? @Phil.E  Can you help with this? From the screencast it looks different to the missing save dialog problem.

Thanks Mark

Hi @Anonymous . I don't see any recent CER reports from you. Without the CER report, it's impossible to tell what's going on exactly.

Can you try the workflow a few more times and send in every CER?

In general, here is my CER advice for all forum readers: We use the CER reporting in an automated way. If you don't send in CER reports, our machines will not tell us there is a problem. Send in every one. This includes repeated crashes. Especially those! If we see you repeatedly crashing in CER reports, that sends a special message that your crash is blocking you and gets attention quicker.

My apologies @Anonymous I must have searched incorrectly for your crashes. I do see them.

The crash is related to what's called "gesture" code. This is the code that runs touch screen interactions. Can you check on this setting?

Turn it "OFF" by un-ticking the box. You might need to restart Fusion to see the effect. After that, try to create STL again.
