Just installed Fusion 360 few days ago, when I open the app, the New Project panel opens and then automatically closes and stay closed. What I now see is Data/People pane. Now, the New Project panel does not even open, the app goes straight to Data/People panel. I have gone through some settings but can't find how to show it. All the tutorials start from New Project.

It is real hard to tell but it looks like you are currently in a Project. You cannot create a New Project if you are already in one. Follow the video and see if it helps.
If not, go to the Web Database and try to create a Project from there.
