"Create" dropdown keeps disappearing immediately (Sketch Mode)

• macOS 11.6.5

• Latest Fusion 2.0.13158

• Sketch Environment Bug

when clicking on the "CREATE" dropdown to select a sketch option like Line or Circle, etc... in the latest update the menu will just close automatically immediately after clicking the left mouse button.

I've found that erratically clicking anywhere on the sketch a bunch of times can sometimes fix the issue.

I've also found that clicking on "CREATE" dropdown with the middle-click button allows the menu to operate as intended, and the dropdown does not vanish immediately.

Things of Note:

• This ONLY happens on the "CREATE" dropdown menu. The other ones work as intended.

• This seems to be a UI input de-bouncing issue, as indicated by the "CREATE" text turning grey immediately after clicking on the menu item. If I click on any of the other dropdowns, like "MODIFY" or "CONSTRAINTS", it will drop the menu down, and them menu title will invert to the blue colour, signifying that it is the active menu.

you can see here the grey highlighted title on "CREATE" menu with no menu present underneath (the mouse is on the CREATE click-box area). This is immediately after clicking on "CREATE":

and you can see here the blue highlighted menu how it's supposed to stay after clicking:

Steps to recreate issue:

Just enter sketch mode and use it for a minute, CREATE dropdown menu will eventually begin its disappearing act.

It's always a good idea to accompany your bug report with a screencast.

The menu goes away instantly when clicked. That's all there is to it. It's really that simple.

I'm not adding a screencast because I don't trust the screencast app.

I detailed the process to recreate the bug and it's very clear what is happening and when it is happening. The screenshots show the menu not staying open as well.

It doesn't happen for me, and I am following your description.

For me it behaves at it should. I don't mean that's also the case for you and this is exactly why you should include a screencast. Show it in a screencast so it can be diagnosed and logged as a bug.

Screencast is an Autodesk app; if you don't trust it you might as well not install the Fusion 360 itself.

not everyone wants to install screen recording apps on their computer, and not every potential bug should be dismissed because you didn't experience it, either.

i provided screenshots, and i outlined when and how it happens and how to recreate it.

if you didn't experience the same problem as i have, then feel free to move along. no one is forcing you to stay here and debate me on whether or not what i'm seeing actually exists, but I should inform you that I have no intention in wasting people's time by making fake bug reports.

bugs have been able to be solved without the use of screencasts ever since support forums were a thing, so i feel that i've contributed enough information to keep it on the radar.

if you click on "CREATE" and your menu shows up and stays there and allows you to click on any of the options in that menu before disappearing automatically, then congratulations; you wouldn't be able to validate the bug report anyway.

This isn't related to the latest update. I've experienced this as well very occasionally before the latest update, but have not been able to reproduce it. It is indeed very frustrating when it happens!

This is a hunch.

Can you collapse the Browser as shown below and check if the behavior persists.

So I tried your suggestion and the problem still persists.

... However, I noticed that it happens when the DATA PANEL is closed/hidden. The issue will start to occur. But repeatedly closing and opening or going away from and back to the Fusion360 app (like switching to this browser, and then back to F360) will sometimes fix the action, and then switching the DATA PANEL's state again (closed or opened, as long as it's changed) will result in the same issue happening again.

So essentially:
• Closing or Opening DATA PANEL will temporarily fix the bug.

• Switching to a different application and then back to F360 might temporarily fix the bug

• Using middle-click mouse button on CREATE dropdown will bypass the bug.

This bug is present in Fusion 360 version 2.0.13162, and it does not only happen in SKETCH mode.

essentially, any time the DATA PANEL is visible/open, the "CREATE" dropdown menu on the tool bar immediately dissappears after clicking with the left mouse button.

with the middle-click mouse button, it will show up and not disappear immediately.

SKETCH mode is not a requirement to reproduce this issue.

I'm experiencing the same thing, with the same behavior with the issue only occurring while the data panel is closed, and the middle mouse button being a viable workaround until Autodesk fixes this.

Also worth noting that this doesn't happen all the time, even when in fullscreen... though it happens more often than not, and is very much annoying.

This issue in version 2.0.13168 @ macOS Big Sur seems to be fixed so far. I haven't seen it crop up since the update.

Though the "Automated Modelling" button is now an additional eyesore. Glad I was given the option to hide it.

Thank you for fixing.

Yeah, I was gonna say, it's still happening for me. Between the normal toolbar space, my mouse with too many buttons, and the spacemouse radial menus, I don't have to go into the drop down too often, but when I do it's in the first menu most of the time, and I generally forget to click with the middle mouse.

Suffice to say, although it's been said already, it's annoying, and I can imagine people who don't use hotkeys for everything would be more annoyed.

Still happening for me but with any drop down menu including the workspace switcher. Probably happens 25% of the time I try and click on a menu:

Things that seem to sometimes get drop downs to stick:

1: Clicking randomly in places.

2: Opening QuickTime and starting a screen recording.

3: Clicking on another drop down item, hoping it stays dropped down, slide over to the menu I want.

4: Switching to a different application and switching back to Fusion.

Pretty sure this started after switching to a Mac with Apple silicon.

- Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2006
- Apple M1 Max rMBP A2485 // Latest MacOS // Latest Fusion
- Usually working off files uploaded to Fusion as: Step, STL, SLDPRT. If it matters ask me.

It still happens to me too, but it isn't directly related to M1 silicon for me because I don't have that (yet...).

The best thing to do for me when it happens is just to use middle or right click on the menu instead of the left click.

I'm glad you were able to capture it on screencast recording... Now it's easier for F360 team to see why this can be so annoying and needs to be fixed.

Right, I'm running on an Intel Mac also (Late 2019 iMac), doesn't seem to be related to the architecture.
