Projecting sketch geometry error, but I have two sketches?

I'm trying to project onto a curved surface, but I'm getting the "projecting onto same sketch" error. In the attached picture, I'm projecting Sketch 17 (the small rounded box) onto the curved surface (Body 2, defined by Sketch 12 and joined with the profile from Sketch 15). I've tried adding new offset planes and new sketches, and no matter what I do, I get the same error.

I thought the problem may have originated because the projected sketch geometry (Sketch 17) was originally derived as an offset of the shape in Sketch 12, but I have deleted and rebuilt the projected sketch manually and I'm still getting the error.

I've even tried adding a completely different offset plane and circle sketch, and projecting it onto a different surface exactly as described in the docs (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Pro...), but I still get the same error!

What am I missing?

Hi,

The sketch with profile A to be projected must be finished.
Then a new sketch is created on any plane and profile A is projected onto the curved surface with "Project to Surface".

Please share the file.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post

Could you elaborate what you mean by "finished sketch"? The Sketch17 is complete, but I have to be inside the Edit Sketch to select the "Project to Surface" option.

File attached.

Ah I think I missed the part wherre you need a 2nd sketch for the projection to live in - makes sense now.

So you need:

1. A completed sketch of the profile to be projected

2. A finished face to project onto

3. A new sketch, from within which you select the completed sketch and the finished face.

Thanks!

These words describe it perfectly.
