Project then extrude?

I am trying to create the door shown in this 2D drawing:

Having created the body of the door, I need to add the hinge straps.  I made a sketch on an offset plane then projected it to the curved surface plus an additional offset plane as shown here:

The difficulty arises when I try to extrude this sketch by 0.5mm.

I can not select the curved profile nor more than one profile, with the result that only the projection on to the plane has extruded.

Any help much appreciated.  I attach the file for examination.

First, you can only extrude flat sketches so your projection can not be used.

Is this any good, using 2 extrudes?

I added a projection to your sketch using the edge of the round part so I could select just the part that needs to be curved. Then set the start to the top face. File's attached.

Based on your geometry, I used a dummy surface, and 2 extrudes.

This method provided vertical walls, and not as a Press Pull would - which would be normal to the disc.

Blue sketch articles should keep you awake at night.

Many thanks, Gents.  That is exactly what I am looking for.  I shall study the approaches of both of you.  I think I shall have to save these posts for future reference.  As DaveB will know, projections seem to give me major headaches.

It occurs to me that it might be possible to extrude the sketch further, then create a new sketch on one edge and then use the Intersect function to remove unwanted material.

My regards and thanks to both of you.

A little short on time last night, couldn’t find the eye OD, I would create all of one strap, and mirror the second one with 2 sketches for the total package,

go with Marks first Extrude from the disc, don’t need my surface plate, and then, with a vertical sketch, do the eye hinge part, (Line,  trimmed circle, and Thin Extrude) that you need to do anyway.

Many thanks, Jim.  Once I had realised that an offset plane could be classed as an 'object' in its own right, it fell into place..

Next, I will work on DaveB's suggestion and see if I can work out the method.  Better to have another string to the bow for future use.

Apologies, Mark.  Typed Jim by mistake.  I had just received word that a friend of mine by that name has just died.

Thanks DaveB.  I think I have it worked out now.

Regards.

Keith.
