Project in Sketch not working properly

Dear Support,

Please see screenshot below showing an inaccurate project command. The hole is 25mm in diameter, made using extrude and cut through a gently curved object.

The sketch is on the centerline plane, the project command does not accurately represent the cross section of the hole.

Please see attached file for further details.

Thanks in advance.

Project will not work well in this sketch situation due to the curvature.  You want to use Intersect instead.  The video will show this.  Intersect detects the exact position the edge of the hole touches the sketch plane.

@william_twyford   Correct,

not seen that before, (real nasty!)

Video has no sound here.

Project will not work well in this sketch situation due to the curvature.  How come?

The blue selected 3d ellipse does not touch the purple spline.

You want to use Intersect instead.

I agree that it is a more accurate result, (for a measurement / dimension).

The purple spline not long enough is a bug.

If the OP needs his curved spline result, ????

Project should supply the full length curve as a correct result.

(Length of the spline would be just over 25, but that is another story)

@jeff_strater  - Project from (a Sweep) Body bucket?

@davebYYPCU , if the OP wants the 3D Spline result, he would use Include 3D Geometry.  This will give the full hole spline and then you can trim the spline if needed.  I have no idea why Project does not work.

Huh?

I presume he needs a correct length 2d spline.  (It is not a 3d sketch.  Include geometry does not give the article either.)

This blue article is desired result with a Projected Link, I constructed it and lost the link in the process.
