Problem with unistalling

Hey! First I have to say that I'm sorry that this is in the wrong product category but you didn't have "other" option anywhere so I had to choose the closest one. So, you have stopped support for 123D Design a while ago but I have a problem with it. I was planning on moving to Fusion 360 since I heard it was better than 123D Design and I wanted to uninstall it before installing Fusion 360 (to save space). But when I went and looked for it in the Windows 10 "uninstall an app" menu I couldn't find it anywhere! I have checked everyone of them and searched for "123D", "Design", "autodesk" etc. I also couldn't find anyone else that was having this problem. The app still launches and works fine and all the files seem to be where they should be but I just can't find it anywhere in the windows 10 uninstall menu!

Please don't ignore this message for it being in the wrong category or at least give me another place to contact.

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community! Excited to have you shortly on-board.

Personally I have not uninstalled 123D design, but I could imagine that the install files live in one of a few places:

  • C:/program files
  • C:/program files (86x)
  • C:/users/<username>/appdata/local/autodesk
    • Note: Appdata is a hidden folder by default. In Control Panel you will need to enable hidden folders

Search within these three directories. You may need to navigate inbetween Autodesk folders to find the exact location for 123D design. Let me know if that clears it up for you.

Thanks,

Hey! I found a file called "Uninstall Autodesk 123D Design.exe" from the
program's files and I gave it the permissions it wanted and ran it. It
loaded for a little while and then said it was done but it did absolutely
nothing and the program still starts up just fine. I think the problem is
that the uninstall program doesn't detect what location the program is
installed in (I didn't install it on the C drive, I installed it on the E
drive). I suspect this is the case because the uninstall program gives me
this warning before "deleting"
the files: "*if you have saved files in (), please create a backup". I
think that in the place of "()" those should be the install location. Is
this because I have the program installed in a seperate folder called "123D
Design" rather than in the "program files" folder where apps would normally
install(I don't know why I didn't install it there, I guess I just wasn't
thinking about it back when I installed it). Do you know if that's the
problem or how I can make it detect the install location?

Hi @Anonymous,

Personally, I do not. If you know where the install is located on E:/, can you manually just delete the 123D folders? The one that contains the .exe file should get rid of most. You may have some that linger leftover, but for the most part it should be deleted.

For instance, with Fusion, if you go to the Fusion install location in %localappdata%, you can just manually deleted the Fusion 360 folders in order to wipe Fusion off the computer manually. Unfortunately, I don't have specific information on 123D, but let me know what you find.

Thanks,
