Problem with Trackpad rotation gesture on MacBook Pro after update

Hi,

I updated to Fusion 360 2.0.15775 x86_64 [Rosetta 2] and now I can't rotate orbit the view using the track-pad on my MacBook Pro.  I used to be able to do it before the update and selecting different options in the "pan, zoom and orbit" preferences doesn't work.

What can I do?  If it is a bug can I revert to an earlier version?

Thanks

Marco

Solution

Phil Eichmiller pointed out that there is a preference that wasn't automatically selected on the update.  Just turn on Native Trackpad and it will start working again.

That used to happen sometimes before the update occasionally if I let my computer go to sleep while the app was still open but it would regain functionality after quitting and reopening Fusion 360. I assume that if that happens again that I would only need to toggle the Native Trackpad prefference on and off again without having to restart the app.

Hi Marco,

Same problem here... infuriating isn't it!

Normally restarting Fusion 360, or at worst re-booting solves this problem, but the new update has completely broken the MacBook Pro track-pad. I've also tried disabling and re-enabling gesture control etc. with no luck.

Symptoms for me are that two-finger 'scroll' normally pans but now zooms, normally holding 'shift' and two finger 'scroll' will orbit, but now nothing. This sporadic problem has been a minor nuisance for years, but it now has rendered this release un-usable without an external mouse, which isn't a realistic solution long term.

Also on 2.0.15775 x86_64 [Rosetta 2], with MacOS Ventura 13.2.1, M1 13" MBP.

Thanks,

Doug

Yep, same exact thing here. Luckily I'm able to get by with a mouse, but would much prefer to use my trackpad like I always have.

Here we go again... maybe it will not take 5+ years to fix this time?

I mean they put a lot of effort into other important stuff like popup advertisements about add-on discounts...

I couldn't wait for the bug fix, so I ended up going out and bought a mouse.  Thanks to those people who mentioned the mouse for the idea. 👌

Same problem here. Was working on a project early in the morning, then F360 updated in the background from v2.0.15509 to v2.0.15775 and then the issue started. Running macOS BigSur v11.6.5 on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017).

Issue software: Fusion 360 2.0.15775 x86_64 [Native].

Hope everyone with the same problem adds a comment and info here so the issue will get fixed asap.

Thanks for posting this question over here too:

The solution is message 7 for everyone who has chimed in on this double post.

Given the track record of bug fixes in this software, I wouldn’t hold my breath even if there thousands of posts confirming this bug. The prior track pad issues took years to be fixed and that is no an exaggeration.

Ensure in preferences that "use gesture based view navigation" is enabled.

Next:

1. In preferences, under Preview Features, turn on Native trackpad, and close preferences.

2. Try trackpad.

3. If it doesn't work, close Fusion (red x or command + Q)

6. Restart Fusion

7. Does the trackpad work?

Hi everyone

I also have the same issue.

Usually I could use two fingers (synchronous movement) on the trackpad to pan the model.

But since the update it does not work anymore.

It's really annoying and interrupting the construction process when I always have to select the pan hand in the menu below to pan the model and then go back to the selected tool.

Please Autodesk reverse this bug asap!

Thank you very much

After the update, this issue still persists for me, sadly solution does not work for me, and I urgently need a fix on this, traveling in Japan and can't use mouse / space mouse combination, only trackpad, can't use Fusion like this 😞

Sorry to hear that. I have only heard from a couple people that the solution doesn't work, and we can't reproduce any problems on our side. Unfortunately, this means I have no workaround available.

Just to get to a quick baseline: have you restarted your machine lately?

my Problem was, that in "Preview Features", the native trackpad option for mac book was unmarked after restart. Theres a strange dialog window after closing the "Preview Features" and you have to hit "signat..." in order to have the checkbox permanently being checked...
