Problem with exported STL

Anonymous
Not applicable

So for about a week or so now whenever I export an STL I am getting a weird issue.  Even though I've chosen to hide a linked component within my design it will appear in the downloaded STL.  The only way I can get the STL without the hidden components is by deleting them completely in my design.  This isn't optimal as I may need these down the road to update my designs.

*EDIT: Forgot to say, when I open the design in Fusion 360 the components are properly hidden from view, only happening in the downloaded STL *

Has anyone else experienced this and is there an easy fix to this problem?  Thank you for the help!

Hide all the components you desire and then instead of using the "Export" function, right click on the top level assembly in the browser and select Save as STL.  I do not think you will get the issues your seem to have now.

Thanks @jhackney1972, that seems to have done the trick!

Hey @jhackney1972 ,

So new problem.  When I right click the top component and save as STL it will not include the mesh bodies that I have in there.  Am I missing something?  Thanks!

If the bodies are already mesh of course they will be excluded, they are already done.  The Save to STL will only convert the bodies into mesh bodies.  I am imagining you want to have a mesh assembly to go straight to your printer, if that is the case, this command will not work for you.  You may want to take a look at this Fusion 360 add-in and see if it will do what you want, I am not sure because I have only used it on an assembly that contained only solid bodies.
