Problem to update the drawing

Hi!

I've made some drawings of my design and now Fusion won't update the drawing (there is a update sign visible in the toolbar). I got only an error message "The referenced file being opened is the same as the one currently open". Any idea what's wrong? I've tried to restart Fusion, but it didn't help.

Hi Juha,

I found some very old reports of this, but nothing recent. Can you provide some more details on the design the drawing is referencing?  Are there XREF's involved?  Animations? As a first check make sure all of the dependent designs are up to date/saved and then re-open the drawing.  Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

no there wasn't any xrefs. Actually I didn't find out what was the action after which that problem occurred. And yes, I have saved all files. But the problem was fixed after I restarted Fusion and my computer. Fusion only asked to save all designs after I opened that drawing. So now it seems that everything is ok.

Hi @cmiller66

I have the same issue with a drawing only referring to a single design

Yellow exclamation mark in drawing saying: Drawing it out of date

After update I get the strange

"The referenced file being opened is the same as the one currently open" ????

which makes absolutely no sense. A drawing referencing itself? Seems like a bug. I have not updated this drawing for a few months but have updated the design many times since I made the drawing.

Best

Hoegge

When I open another design (made for rendering) including the design the drawing is based on, it says:

"Warning: This design contains Removed components which did not update. To complete the update, roll the history marker to before the earliest Remove feature and click the Get All Latest button"

Again a strange error message - and not sure where the "Get All Latest" button is. I can right click and select that on an outdated design, but the referenced design is not outdated and the one that includes it cannot update due to the error message. I can see other people have the same problem without any solution.

Hi hoegge,

Would it be possible for you to share or send me (christopher.miller@autodesk.com) this drawing?  If you can send me the Fusion 360 Archive (.f3z) that would be great.  In the data panel, click the version number for the drawing > Open details on the web, then click the download button in the upper right and choose Fusion 360 Archive.

I've heard of this possibly happening when animations are involved, or if the drawing is created before the design is completely finished saving.  But, this could be due to a few different causes, so it would help to have the data set to help diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi @cmiller66 ... probably could do that- but I also checked the same files on another PC where everything loaded fine without any warnings, neither when opening the "main design", the drawing that shows it or the design including the "main design" and a few objects for rendering. This is a bit strange. The version where it worked was 2.0.5044 and then I upgraded it to 2.0.5103 and still no issues. So I will try on the machine with the problems tomorrow and see if it is still the same.

Thanks - will get back

Hi again @cmiller66

When I got back to the first PC the problem was gone there too, so it appears like a hiccup in the Fusion on that machine that solved itself or in the storage back end. I did try to close and reopen both the files and Fusion several times yesterday, when I had the problem.

So problem gone again. I still think, though, that the error messages were a bit strange and did not really match what seemed to be the problem.

Thanks

Morten

Just stumbled across this old thread - I am encountering the same problem again, super frustrating. The only way to fix it is to save the file as a new file.
