posting troubles

I did a carve the other day without issues.  Since then, I resized the project and tried to post, however there was an update and the dialogue box is different from before.  I worked my way through it and got the post code as it showed up in the nc editor.  I used to save directly to a jump drive and now I save it to the desktop and then move it to the jump drive.  I take it to the cnc machine and attempt to load it.  Nothing happens.  No code shows in the window.

If anyone has suggestions to help that would be great!  Just let me know what additional information is required...

Background:  Basically a home built machine originally made with the name "lightening" and no longer in business.  Running Mach3.

Also: Are there parameters that should be followed when naming the code file?  Spaces, back/forward slash ect that should not be used???

Tha=nks in advare for any help.

Yep, we have a new UI for posting. Some love it, some hate it, others are as of yet undecided. Are you using the correct Mach3 post processor? What extension is applied to it when posting out? Can you confirm its existence on the jump drive before moving it to your machine?

Hello Seth,

1. Not sure on which mach3 post processor I should be using or which one I was using as it worked when I  starting using fusion.  I have tried two different ones in the list with no luck.

2.  The extension is .tap. This is the same extension that was being used before.

3.  I have tried to open it in "notes" (macbook) and it will not.  Initially when I tried to post, the nc editor window did not open.  Even though the box is checked.  Then I used just numbers for file name and the nc editor worked which made me think all was good.  Wrong again, went to the shop and nothing shows up in mach3.

In the past, I would name my files instead of using the numbers preset in the box without issue.  I am gathering there are restrictions on using spaces and some characters as well?

Thanks for you help!

EDIT: I went back to check some of my old tap files on the jump drive.  "Notes" will not open those either so I tried "text edit" and it opened both the old and new post files on the jump drive.

Have you tried your workflow after reenabling the old user interface in the Preferences > Preview flags?

I'm out of the shop for the weekend, so my technical ability is rather limited

Sorry I had to chuckle when you wrote that you technical abilities are limited....  Even being limited, your abilities are much greater than mine, Ha!

I reset the preferences and tried to generate code.  The window is still the new desogn.  I proceeded anyway and am getting the same results.  When I went back to the old version, Should it be suing the new window or revert back to the old popup window?

I closed the program and reopened it with the same results.

Again, many thanks.

ra

Edit:  Seems I needed to tick the box "sign me up".  Older style window is back so I'll give it a go and post back.

Edit 2:  Did not work.  Window in Mach3 is blank when I try to load the code.

Time to put this one to bed!

I got it figured out and still don't know why this is happening....

When I create, I use a laptop in the house.  The file is saved to a jump drive and taken to the shop to cut.  This particular piece was saved to a jump drive as well.  The process is this, first select the jump drive, then fusion post files folder, then the particular job folder and save there.  After many attempts at solving this, I saved the file to the first folder ( fusion post file folder ) directly.  I'll be damned, the nc editor opened up, which it did not do before.  I saved all tasks and headed to the shop.  To my pleasant surprise, it worked!

I have saved to multiple extension folders (?) before the update but now It is not an option for me.

Thanks for the help,

ra
