Why is it when I change a side dimension of a polygon it changes position and does a slight rotational turn.

Changed from 2.309 to 2.000 dimension. Showing two polygons to see the difference. Polygon Sketch Dimension.png?

this is just a consequence of an under-defined constraint system.  Agreed, it would be nice if this did not happen, but this is a valid solution to the system of constraints and dimensions given.  You will always get better results under edit if you fully constrain your sketches.

Hi,

If the polygon is centred (origin or defined sketch element) and one line is constrained, everything works fine.

You should generally have a Horizontal or Vertical constraint on one of the edges.

Hexagons are generally dimensioned across flats, not across points.

Dimension (or otherwise constrain) the location of the polygon rather than leave free to float in space.

If you follow these guidelines - all will be predictable.

Thank you for the reply, appreciated very much.

It would be very helpful if the "constrain" was not required when creating stand-alone sketch objects, anyone (beginner) can easily make a mistake when doing a small dimension change because it is not noticeable.
