Point to point move - selecting point between points

Hello! First post, did some Google-sleuthing and came up empty, so posting in the odd chance I missed something...

I work with a lot of extruded aluminum CAD models as part of my designs (8020, Misumi, etc).  As a result, when aligning components (sections/fittings) to one another, I frequently have the case where I need to align components to their centers, but the bodies have slots down the center which don't enable a point to pick from.  For extrusions I get away with it since typically their faces have the same geometries and therefore common points, but if I have a fitting like a corner bracket and need to align it to a section of extrusion, I can't pick the midpoint of the slot.

In another CAD package I use for work (Siemens NX), there is a way to choose a "point between two points" for the Target or Origin points as part of a point-to-point move.  I tried seeing if Fusion could do this a few different ways but it didn't seem to get the hint.  I tried using a point to point move to get it positioned and then align, but if the objects aren't the same width then it isn't centered and takes a bunch of extra processing to do this, which seems excessive given Fusion's typical simplicity/inferred logic.

In practice, I would think that with the way Fusion's UI is laid out, the software would interpret a two point selection when choosing the Origin or Target as the midpoint of those two points in space wherever that was, but it simply dumps the selection instead.  I.e. if I'm choosing the Target, and I pick two points of the ones available, it would default to using the midpoint between those two selections, even if it landed in empty space.  Then the subsequent midpoint I use on the Origin would snap to that location.

Any thoughts?    I provided an example video.  Tried to do a screencast but (surprise!) it locks up when I open it.

Hi,

Please share an example construction with specification of the desired connection.
In Fusion this is done with joints and, if necessary, previously created joint origins.

Use Rigid Joint instead of Move, select your two positions used in the movie, and set Offset as required.

(Top inside channel centre position, slide out to the outside face, by depth of channel)

Might help....

Measured the Offset to be -8.204 mm

Hi,

in this example I show how to use joints without separate (individual) origins directly.

Hi,

If you are not familiar in use of Joints, I recommend that you create Joint Origins first.
