Pipe doesn't follow a closed path

Hello all,

I'm designing a glass lamp enclosure with solder and copper between the glass planes.

My sketches consist of a multitude of profiles and lines.

The glass is created with a simple extrude on the profiles, and the soldered joints are created with the pipe command.

I've been able to create a variety of the soldered joints, but have ran into an issue when trying to pipe around a rectangular path. If you take note of the timeline on the screencast, it does indeed show that I've encountered a similar warning multiple times, with the other rectangular paths on the side of the enclosure I'm working on.

The pipe I'm using in the images and screencast is supersized for visibility purposes.

The screencast illustrates what occurs when I try to pipe around a specific section of that path. (Warning: The sweep could not create a valid body)

When I remove one of the lines, destroying the profile, then create the pipe, it appears to function. Then I recreate the profile by adding the line I deleted. Should I settle for this fix and move on?

Is there some key functionality of the pipe command that I'm missing, is this an error on Fusions 360's behalf, or am I using the tool too esoterically?

Thank you,

Dmitriy

Hold down Cnrl or Cmd and select addition paths, must be connected corners.

How do you mean? I can only select one path with the pipe tool.

I've attached edited my post and attached the screencast url because I was receiving an html error when attempting to add it through editing, hope it clarifies what I'm trying to do:

Did some testing, seems you can select a rectangle, when it's boundaries chain.

My earlier statement does not allow selecting paths that are not in the same sketch, but have to be individual chains.

This pic shows yellow path is planar, but I got two pipes the red line and the rest, by selecting with chain active.

Perfect. I was able to fix the issue prior to your comment by deselecting the Chain Selection checkbox, but now I somewhat understand what was going on and can more or less replicate the issue and fix(additionally, hiding the other sketch)..

Because the sketches share an edge I've found that this creates some interesting behavior depending on their order of precedence.
