Petition to add Linux support

Hey, so the title says it clear. I don't wanna talk about how linux is great and things like that. I use linux as my daily driver and can't find better software than Fusion I could run on linux. I am a hobbyist and I design some objects to 3D print.

If you would appreciate linux support too, please reply with a "+1" or something.

Thank you.

areuzz linked 7 forum posts about this. These posts have many responses from people supporting the OP and asking the same as kukys410.

The only response given by Autodesk is "Linux is not a supported OS", but most of us know that a couple tweaks make Fusion 360 completely functional on Linux.

We aren't asking for Autodesk to create a Linux repository and make the software open source.

We are just asking for it to be easier to install.

Maybe changing the "catastophic" OS checks to warnings that tell us "Linux has no official support" would do it, including the one on the installer download site.

Sorry if we are too insistent, but there goes my +1

Squeeky wheel gets the grease.  Comment on old posts and make new ones so Autodesk doesn't think this issue is a sleeping bear.  Every piece of software I need to operate my office runs on Linux... except Fusion.  They use a QT backend for the UI, so I'm not sure why it would be such an extrordinary measure to offer a Linux port.

Yes! I hate windows services so much, the built in antivirus is pretty annoying sometimes. Sadly I bet autodesk used some windows only dependencies such as DirectX or something that can't just be translated to linux. But there are compatibility tools such as wine, so they could maybe run it using that. A good example is valve, who made a universal compatibility tool Proton using wine, so we can play so much windows games on linux using steam.

Agreed. Also, arm support. This would be a great utility on raspi, jetson nano, and other various sbcs.

Is this a recommendation to the end user or the developers? F360 is on Lutris.net but itā€™s not quite useable, at least in my experience.

Most of my colleges have found ways to migrate their business laptop to Linux. I'm stuck because of Fusion 360. Most of the applications I use now started as Linux applications anyway. (Inkscape, GIMP, .etc) I would love for Fusion to go ahead and make a port to Linux, but developers seem to find a way to close the gap eventually, keeping my eye on Open SCAD.

FreeCAD has all the features I need, but itā€™s very confusing to use. OpenSCAD is a great concept and extrem powerful, but I still need to export into FreeCAD for chamfering and other ā€˜post processingā€™

What about CAM? The free cam packages I'm finding only work off stl. Which
isn't great. I found a script by cryininkfly that installs fusion 360 in
wine. It's a bit janky, but it's the best solution I've come across. I just
have some miscellaneous graphical bugs. Other than that cad and cam both
work.

I tried the wine solution on lutris.net, and it wasnā€™t stable enough in my
experience. So far Iā€™ve only printed (highly recommend SuperSlicer), so
havenā€™t needed CAM yet. Good to hear you have something that works for you
though!
Iā€™ll have to have a go with that wine script you mentioned some timeā€¦

Crossover works at 100% now, so does wine.
If you check the OpenGL option.

Does the latest version of Fusion 360 with a browser login screen redirection work with Crossover?
