Patterning components - significant lag time

Hi

I am trying to use the pattern tool to make a pattern of components roughly 50x50 or so and fusion keeps crashing on me. In addition, when I go to suppress one of the components in the pattern, fusion takes 2 min to update which given the amount of components I am trying to pattern makes the process extremely slow.

I updated my graphics display to limit effects to optimize performance; didn't help. I also tried to do the pattern with bodies as opposed to components and that did not help either. Would love any insight into this issue!

Thank you!

It will very much depend on the component being patterned. 50x50 is a very large pattern and a lot of information being computed and processed at one time.

I would wager its faster to pattern without a timeline but that of course means no parametric history. It would be very helpful for us to see the model or at least a screenshot of the component.

Hi Ryan,

I am trying to pattern a solar panel component

Attached you will find the file for the component. We are working with a model where I will need ~1000 copies of these to create a layout like below Panel Layout.PNG

It might not be a great answer, but i would expect it to not run very well. Any pattern of this size and scope is bound to be slower to work with. On top of a general pattern there is a canvas repeated on each object.

I would recommend if the models are as simple as the example, no design history might be better. That being said it will still be slow on generation. Its possible that Fusion is not the best program for a pattern of this size and nature.

Hi,

try patterning features or faces and play around with the options “Adjust” , “Identical” and “Optimized”.
