patching multiple edges with interior rails

Hello,

I am trying to re-build a file previously made in Solidworks.

Please see attached sample file: the intersection of  4 square modules with filleted edges, some faces trimmed and deleted, and some connecting interior rails. The deleted faces should leave 4 'Vertical' edges.

Patching the hole of 16 edges in Solidworks is perfect. I get Error messages in Fusuion 360.

Firstly I appear to get a doubling of some 'Trimmed' Edges: there should be only 16 edges, but when chaining it sees 18 edges.

Secondly, when I try to select individually, the program stops selecting after 13 edges. I can't select the remaining 3 edges.

Selecting the 2 interior rails doesn't help resolve the Patch.

Can any more season user please help with this Patching problem?

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thank you for posting to Fusion Forum.

Here I did try to fix the issue, there is a surface projected curve that has an issue of discontinuity and that is causing the issue.

I re-create the section curve and created new loft surfaces, then Mirror and pattern.

Please check the model here https://a360.co/3llDXmz

Please accept the solution if this helps.

Hello Pradip Mistry,

Thank you for your attempted solution. However it is not quite right.

I have made some progress by re-trimming the original surface. This has allowed a successful Patch surface to fill the hole.

But I still wish to refine it by using 2 Interior rails. Please see the attached modified file.

You can  see the Patch  surface doesn't precisely conform to the interior rails aligned with the sketch planes.

It shows the successful patch and the interior rails. These interior rails are tangent at the end points which are derived from intersection curves from the trimmed surfaces.

While the patch works at present, it does not work when I try to use one or both interior rails. I've used this approach in Solidworks with no problem. I don't understand why it doesn't work in Fusion 360.

I would be grateful for your's or other's input.

Kind regards,

Dana Church
