Part search improvements

Hi,

I'm commonly running into an issue of finding a part within fusion.

Like remembering a design detail to look at in a rather old file. In case the location is not obvious, I try using the search engine. That usually does not help.

AFAIK the search only searches for the filename.

I suggest to add check boxes to optionally include

- component name

- body name

- sketch name

- CAM setup name

- ....

In the search. Basically there is )th least potentially) plenty of information in those names.

Assuming the part I'm looking for is an internanl component with a reasonable name - the search engine won't find it. I feel like this is a shortcoming, since fusion is really designed to host several components in just one file. Finding those components via the search engine should be made easier.

What do you think? What is your workaround to be able to find components within larger assemblies?

Best,

Stefan

Hi,

The workflow to find components or bodies in a larger assembly is accomplished using the Select by Name tool.

Select by NameSelect by Name

When the tool is running you can find bodies and components by name:

Does this help?

Thanks @Phil.E  thats good to know.

It doesn' t solve my issues of identifying the correct asseembly.

Especially in older projects or projects setup by someone else. I often remember name or part of a name, but that is not enough to find it.

Best,

Stefan

Understood. What you describe is more of a "deep search" to find objects inside of design files without opening them.
