Parametric Expression drops out

Hi All

I have had my first go at using the parametric facility. I have self educated myself but came up with a successful model. However One successful expression keeps dropping out.

I am trying to have the text linked to the model change size with the model. This I can successfully do often in the table but as soon as i view the model the expression drops out. were others do not. The expression reverts to the last result.

I do not see the same issue you describe UNTIL the shaft size get too small to support the number extrusion and the edge fillet.  You need some parametric relationship on the shaft end fillet.  Probably need a parameter on the number Extrusion height also.  I try to show there is no issue in the text size between changing it in the table and back in the model in the Screencast.  Just for kicks, I attached my model, just in case something on your system is not saving it correctly.

Many Thanks for super fast reply

But i think i uploaded a file not showing the issue. Not sorted out how to video myself so hopefully i can explain better.

The video did not show the actual numbering changing on the top and have updated the file just incase the one supplied firstly was in error.

When changing the spanners size the shaft size was to change along with the number on the top, that all works ok. The fault lies with the font size to fit on the changing shaft size. the expression "SpannerSize*0.5" Work fine BUT (don't you just hate that word) after one change drops out. I have tried removing mm from the equations also without success.

I have now tried removing the fillet around the top again no success, wouldn't mind if the formula actually did not work. Image shows the expression in place on 15, visit image all good, come back to table change to 15 to 14 the formula has gone leaving the last result for all future changes.

Many thanks again for any replies

You can use Screencast to record your Fusion. Most of the time you can't directly insert Screencast in this forum, but you can paste a link to it always (like I'll do below).

Same as @jhackney1972 I don't see anything unexpected in your file. Check this screencast in which I change SpannerSize to 14 mm and back to 15 mm and nothing goes wrong, and d54 is automatically calculated accordingly. If you see a different behavior please do record a screencast and attach the link, maybe it's system-dependent bug?

Please try with the new file upload V8 As the video does not show the number changing

The recent file also shows expected behavior (by the way both files you've uploaded are v8). Please record a screencast if you see otherwise.

I do note that in your screen cast the Numbering does not change but is fixed at 12 even though the shaft and base change. Could this be a Macbook thing. Trying a screencast but is my first attempt.

Of course the text contents does not change, but its height changes as expected. Are you trying to change the text itself parametrically? In your previous posts you were complaining about expression "SpannerSize*0.5" dropping out and not about the text content.

Yes this is the formula (SpannerSize*0.5) is for the "Text size" so that it grows or shrinks as the spanner size does. I.E.

Spanner size 14, visible numbering 14: text size 7.

Spanner size 10, visible numbering 10  text size 5.

Trying screencast shortly

You are using an add-in (ParametricText) which causes a bug that users without that add-in (e.g. me) do not see.

I believe you should contact the developer of that add-in to report and resolve the bug.
