Parametric distance between objects

Hi all,

I am new to Fusion360 and I understand the basics of parametric design, but only when it comes to sizes of objects (i.e. the dimensions/size of a bookcase and its components).

I am designing a cribbage board template, and would like it to be parametrically adjustable so I can adjust the parts based on my size of stock.  To that point, I'd like to use a User Parameter to define the di

stance between sketch circles (see sceeenshot below).  Currently, the circles are 1/4" apart on centre.  I would like to be able to parametrically define the distance between these circles so that when I change that parameter, the circles move furter or closer apart based on that parameter.  I have figured out how to make a copy of a circle and move that copy the parametrically defined distance, but they do not remain linked, so when I change the parameter, nothing happens.

Thanks for your help

Sean

I answer you question in my Screencast but I warn you about doing a large sketch pattern, cribbage board, due to the fact it will kill Fusion 360 performance.  I did a parametric board using a pattern of Features, not sketches, and even then it must be Optimized so it will not kill Fusion 360 performance.  Model is attached.

Thanks for your help with this. I think because I'm a beginner I am overwhelmed with all of the features of Fusion. I think the best probable outcome here is for me to just design the cribbage board as is, then scale the design if I need to carve it into a larger or smaller board.
Thanks again!

Hi,

I can only recommend you to follow the advice by @jhackney1972 .
In the GIF you can see what happens when you create the arrangement in the sketch.

You will then have to update the extrusions by hand.
Make the effort and test it.

Me again,

I had a chance to re-watch your video and play around with a new model using the pattern, and it's a tonne easier than I originally thought.  Thanks for taking the time to reply with this!
