The orbit tool is causing some unexpected/unwanted behavior in the part view. The screencast should illustrate it clearly.
The general idea is that whenever the view cube is set where the top and bottom are to the sides, using the orbit tool will immediately snap the view back to what I call a "polar" view. eg. the top of the cube is at the top or the bottom of the cube is at the top.
What should happen is that the view of the object should not change abruptly to a home positon. It should allow the user to manipulate the view smoothly from the current view location.
This is happening in all of my designs and I shared the one in the video with support. I'm up to date with Fusion 360 and running OSX 10.12.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Peter
Hey @Anonymous,
First, let me thank you for recording a screencast with audio! That is immensely helpful and quite rare these days.
Second yes, i've confirmed this and it came up in a case or forum thread a while back. I think it occurs in most, if not all of our programs that contain a viewcube.
I 'think' (if i can speculate here) it has to do with the UCS relationship to the views and its snapping back to "normal" of front/top. I've found if you set front after rotating the 90 degrees it doesn't do that.
Also @Phil.E pointed out to me that Switching to Free Orbit should correct the issue of the snapping back. Takes a little adjustment but as far as i can tell it does not snap.
