I am trying to download the free fusion 360 for personal use. I downloaded the installer and it says open to install. When I open it it says that there is an error and tells me to got find the log files. I did find it but I don't know what to do now? I have tried it multiple times. I don't know what to do with the log file or how to download it from here.

Please attach the log file and the forum users will use it to try and help you out.  If you do not know how to attach it, take a look at the graphic below.

It seems from the log you are using a computer with a Windows operating system.  The log file is indicating that it lacks permission to the required folders. to do the installation.  I would check to see if you have adequate permissions to install applications, if not, either have them assigned to you or log in as a user that has them.  I would also right click on the Fusion 360 installation program and select "Run as Administrator" next time you do it.

I am running on a mac. When I go to the permissions section there is no option to allow all installations. There is also no run as administrator option when right-clicking the installer.

I do not use a MAC, only Windows based computers, so I am not familiar on how to add permissions.  All the hints I gave you are for Windows operation system.  I would go to the Internet and search on how to add permissions to a MAC.  Here is one I hit real quick, not sure if it will help but...

I think it may just be the settings and permissions that my parents set me up with on this computer. I might ask for a pc for a Christmas/birthday present and hopefully won't have any issues then. But for now, I will just stick to SketchUp and other things. Thanks

So if this forum question is finished or "solved" it is normal to select the Accept Solution icon on the forum post that solved your issue to close it out.  This would be your last post in this case since it is your decision to not peruse a further solution.
